Today, July 23, the ninth stage of the prisoner exchange took place under the Istanbul agreements. Heavily wounded and seriously ill defenders returned home from Russian captivity. This was reported by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets, as reported by Glavkom. According to Lubinets, warriors of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular from the Territorial Defense, marine infantry, motorized and mechanized brigades, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service returned to Ukraine. Among those returned are defenders from Donetsk region, in particular Mariupol, Sumy region, and Kharkiv region. "Home are those servicemen who were captured in the first months of the full-scale invasion. Several of the returned defenders were considered missing and were in a search status," he writes. It is noted that the oldest released person is 66 years old, the youngest is 27 years old. Three of the returned defenders will celebrate their birthdays tomorrow on their native land. "As Volodymyr Zelensky noted, the warriors returning from Russian captivity defended Ukraine in various areas of the front. According to the president, a significant number had been in captivity for over three years. Everyone will receive the necessary support and medical assistance." Earlier, the president announced the prisoner exchange. The president emphasized that the release of Ukrainian servicemen from Russian captivity must continue. The exchange of Ukrainian warriors is ongoing, and the derogatory attitudes between Ukraine and Russia require further resolution.
