Statement on Mobilization of Military Units

According to Главком: Alexander Lukashenko has announced plans for a targeted mobilization of military units in Belarus, aimed at preparing the armed forces for a potential war. The announcement came during a meeting with Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, where they also reviewed the results of recent combat readiness inspections. Emphasizing the need to boost the army's preparedness, Lukashenko stated:

“Going forward, as I promised, we will selectively mobilize units to train them for war. God willing, we can avoid it.”

Analysis of Combat Readiness Inspections

Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin presented a detailed analysis of the recent combat readiness checks, which were conducted on Lukashenko’s personal orders as part of the Defense Ministry and General Staff's plans. Lukashenko also reminded that he had previously chaired a meeting on equipping the Belarusian army, stressing the need to develop a new state armament program for 2026–2030.

In his remarks, Lukashenko noted that Belarus’s territory is neither a desert nor the Ukrainian steppes, underscoring the country’s strategic importance amid military threats. He also threatened NATO countries and Ukraine with the potential use of the Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russian Oreshnik missiles stationed in Belarus could become legitimate military targets. Lukashenko concluded:

“After this inspection, I know a serious discussion took place at the Defense Ministry. I was waiting for you to sort things out on your own, both the positives and the shortcomings-and there are always plenty of those.”

Lukashenko’s mobilization announcement signals an escalation of military tensions in the region and may be interpreted as a response to shifting security dynamics around Belarus. At the same time, the intensification of military activities and threats to deploy advanced missiles have raised concerns among neighboring countries, particularly Ukraine and NATO members, which are already taking steps to monitor the situation. These developments could become key factors in shaping regional security strategies.

As tensions rise, Lukashenko's recent announcement has drawn attention to the ongoing military developments in the region. This move follows the mobilization of officers and the deployment of the Oreshnik missile, which has been flagged as a significant threat to Ukraine.
