Yaroslava Mahuchikh's Form Ahead of the 2026 Diamond League Season

According to Главком: Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh has shared insights into her current condition as she prepares for the third leg of the 2026 Diamond League, set to take place in Rabat, Morocco. This competition marks her first appearance in over two months, with her last outing occurring in mid-March when she clinched gold at the World Indoor Championships, capping off her winter season.

The Ukrainian athlete completed her training camp in Portugal, where she says she achieved peak readiness.

“I had an excellent preparation and training block in Portugal, so I'm confident I'm in great shape. I hope you'll witness some impressive and high jumps,” the athlete stated.

She also expressed her ambition to clear heights above 2.10 meters: “I think there's a chance to jump over 2.10 meters. My goal is to reach 2.15 meters, but I try not to fixate on the world record-just to enjoy the competition atmosphere.”

Anticipation for the Rabat Competition

The Rabat event is scheduled to begin on May 31 at 20:25 Kyiv time. Besides Mahuchikh, Ukraine will be represented by:

  • Yuliya Levchenko, who recently competed at the second Diamond League stage in Xiamen, where she cleared 1.99 meters.

Mahuchikh expects a fiercely competitive field:

“I'm really looking forward to my season debut, especially since the girls had a fantastic start to the Diamond League last week. So I'm sure there will be very high competition in the sector-I'm expecting that.”

In other news, Ukrainian pole vaulter Vladyslav Malykhin posted a result at the NCAA Division II championships. The third Diamond League stage promises to be a compelling event, and track and field fans are eagerly awaiting the performances of the Ukrainian athletes.

The Rabat meet represents a significant milestone for Ukrainian female jumpers, offering them a chance to showcase their progress after an extended break from competition. The intense rivalry Mahuchikh anticipates could push the athletes toward personal bests and new seasonal achievements. This Diamond League stage also highlights the growing presence of Ukrainian competitors on the global stage, which may help boost the profile of athletics back in Ukraine.

As Mahuchikh gears up for her much-anticipated season opener, it's worth noting her impressive track record. Last year, she began her summer campaign at the Rabat Diamond League, showcasing her exceptional talent and setting the stage for what promises to be another thrilling competition. With her sights set on surpassing her previous achievements, fans are eager to see how she will perform this time around.
