Mike Pompeo Claims a 40-Year Conflict with China Is Already Underway
Mike Pompeo Interview
According to ХВИЛЯ: In an interview marking the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, former U.S. Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo asserted that the Chinese Communist Party has been waging a war against the United States for four decades. Pompeo described this as a real military conflict, characterized by espionage, intellectual property theft, and military provocations. His comments reflect a growing bipartisan concern in Washington regarding China's long-term strategic competition with America.
Pompeo detailed a pattern of aggressive behavior from Beijing, including the theft of American intellectual property, extensive propaganda campaigns, and the exertion of political influence across Latin America and Africa. He also highlighted specific military provocations, such as:
- the harassment of Philippine vessels;
- the surrounding of Vietnamese ships;
- the deployment of fishing fleets near Taiwan.
Pompeo emphasized that this conflict is not a future possibility but a present reality, stating:
“When people ask me if there will be a war, my answer is: it's already happening.”
He warned that showing weakness only invites further aggression from adversaries.
“When you demonstrate weakness, you get what we see today in Ukraine: aggressors who think-this is my time, this is my moment-and they become even more aggressive,”
Pompeo remarked.
Geopolitical Tensions
Pompeo's speech underscores the escalating geopolitical tensions between the U.S. and China, while also linking them to broader international security concerns, such as Russia's war in Ukraine. His remarks suggest a perceived need for a more assertive U.S. policy to counter Chinese expansionism as nations grapple with these complex global challenges. In a period of global instability, Pompeo argues that the international community must unite to prevent further aggression from authoritarian regimes.
