French President's Concerns at Davos

According to ХВИЛЯ: Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, French President Emmanuel Macron voiced apprehension that the United States is attempting to undermine Europe's strength. He urged European leaders to present a united front amid global challenges and stressed the critical need to defend multilateralism. This call comes at a time of significant geopolitical realignment and economic uncertainty.

Macron referenced threats made by then-U.S. President Donald Trump, who had suggested imposing tariffs on allies. These threats were directed at countries that supported Denmark in the matter of Greenland. The French leader emphasized that protecting a multilateral world order serves the interests of Europe and all those who refuse to submit to brute force.

A Mission for European Unity

Macron also cited a European mission to Greenland and the importance of discussions within the G7 as examples of solidarity. He underscored that

Macron's address reflects a growing anxiety among European leaders about potential threats from the U.S. that could fracture European unity. Faced with global challenges like climate change, security, and economic stability, his appeal for unity and a robust multilateral framework is increasingly urgent. This stance could prove pivotal in shaping a cohesive European policy to ensure future stability and cooperation across the continent.
