Kyiv Region Hit by Combined Missile and Drone Assault
According to Главком: On February 22, 2026, the Kyiv region suffered a major assault involving Russian missiles and drones. The attack resulted in one fatality and injuries to 17 people, including four children, while damaging over 100 homes. The destruction was recorded across six districts, with the Boryspil, Bucha, and Fastiv districts sustaining the most severe damage. This strike is part of a prolonged pattern of attacks on Ukrainian civilian areas since the full-scale invasion began.
An air raid alert was issued in Kyiv at 03:56, with a series of explosions beginning at 04:00. Of the 17 injured, five required hospitalization. Among those hospitalized, two adults are in serious condition, two more are in moderate condition, and one child was also admitted. Mykola Kalashnyk confirmed that the child is receiving all necessary medical care.
Widespread Damage Across Multiple Districts
The attack caused significant damage in several areas:
- In the Brovary district, damage was inflicted on garage boxes, administrative and warehouse buildings of enterprises, office premises, cars, and other equipment.
- The Obukhiv district reported three injured, including one child, with damage to a critical infrastructure facility, businesses, residential buildings, an educational institution, cars, and railway infrastructure.
- In the Boryspil district, one person was injured, private houses, a farm, and cars were damaged, and a church was affected by the blast wave.
- The Bucha district saw six people injured, three of whom were children. Damage occurred to apartment buildings, private houses, cars, and office and commercial premises.
- The Fastiv district reported seven injured, including one child, and tragically, one person was killed by the enemy strike. Private houses and cars were also damaged there.
Debris from intercepted targets fell in several districts of Kyiv, damaging residential buildings and vehicles.
