According to 5 канал: Russian forces launched a large-scale ballistic attack on Kyiv, deploying more than 40 missiles of various types and over 120 attack drones. The assault occurred during the night of July 19, resulting in one fatality and 16 injuries. Strikes and fires were reported in five districts of Kyiv: Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Desnianskyi, and Dniprovskyi. In Solomianskyi, an office building is ablaze, and a nine-story residential block sustained damage, with firefighters extinguishing a blaze covering 200 square meters. In Shevchenkivskyi, a fire erupted in a three-story building spanning 400 square meters, where over ten parked cars also caught fire, and windows were blown out of a 25-story residential tower. In Sviatoshynskyi, a fire broke out on the roof of a private home; in Desnianskyi, a non-residential building burned; and in Dniprovskyi, vehicles caught fire, along with a blaze at a non-residential site and a four-story dormitory.

Ukraine Situation Update

In the week leading up to the attack, Russian forces used approximately 1,450 attack drones, over 1,640 guided aerial bombs, and 99 missiles of various types. Casualties were reported not only in Kyiv but also in the Odesa and Zaporizhzhia regions. Destruction was recorded in Sumy and Chernihiv areas, while Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Cherkasy regions also came under fire.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the situation, stating: 'As of now, in Kyiv and the region, we know of one person killed and 16 others wounded. My condolences to all family and loved ones. All the injured are receiving necessary medical care.'

The president also stressed the critical need for air defense systems: 'Interceptors are needed every day, and I am grateful to everyone who takes our agreements seriously and ensures the supply of anti-ballistic systems. These packages right now are literally saving lives during every Russian massive attack.' He warned that delays in new decisions could give Moscow the opportunity to plan further strikes.

This attack on Kyiv is part of Russia's ongoing campaign using aviation and drones to damage Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. Amid rising tensions, Ukrainian authorities continue to urge international support through the supply of air defense systems to mitigate the impact of future assaults.
