Massive Shelling Hits Sumy Region: 21 Communities Targeted, Civilians Killed and Injured
Strikes Across Sumy Oblast
According to Главком: Over the past 24 hours, 21 communities in the Sumy region came under attack, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to homes and infrastructure, according to the National Police of Ukraine.
The affected areas include:
- Konotop
- Seredyna-Buda
- Hlukhiv
- Trostianets
- Khutir-Mykhailivskyi
Russian forces deployed guided aerial bombs, attack drones, FPV drones, artillery, and mortars in these strikes. In the Konotop community, a 78-year-old woman was killed by a Russian drone, while several others were wounded:
- an 8-year-old boy
- women aged 41 and 75
- a 44-year-old man
The attack in this community damaged one apartment building, ten private houses, a truck, three cars, and a motorcycle.
In the Seredyna-Buda community, shelling claimed the life of a 71-year-old man and left a 68-year-old man injured. A 33-year-old woman also sustained wounds. A private home and garage were damaged there.
In the Hlukhiv community, Russian drone strikes injured men aged 50, 51, 54, and 54. A car, a bus station, a workshop, and residential buildings were also hit.
In the Trostianets community, a Russian drone strike wounded a 2-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman. Two houses, a garage, a vehicle, and a gas pipeline were damaged.
In the Khutir-Mykhailivskyi community, a drone-dropped explosive injured a 56-year-old man and damaged a private residence.
Additionally, in the Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krasnopillia, Sumy, Putyvl, Znob-Novhorodske, Berezivka, and Esman communities, residential buildings, farm structures, shops, schools, and vehicles were reported damaged.
Attacks on Kharkiv Region
Separately, a massive Russian assault on the Kharkiv region killed three people. In the city of Kharkiv, drone strikes ignited fires at a café and a municipal utility building, as well as cars. Multi-story and private homes, administrative and industrial facilities, a business center, a church, and vehicles were also damaged.
The security situation in Sumy Oblast and neighboring regions remains critical due to relentless Russian shelling. These attacks inflict severe harm on civilians and infrastructure, underscoring the urgent need for international support for Ukraine amid the ongoing armed conflict. Given the scale of destruction, swift action is required to repair damaged sites and assist victims.
