Germany’s Scholz Calls on Russia for Talks and Unveils €4 Billion Aid Package for Ukraine

During his address, he also announced a new €4 billion military aid package for Ukraine. The package includes:

• drones
• ammunition

Berlin has committed to funding the purchase of several hundred missiles for the Patriot system.

The conference was co-hosted by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. In 2026, Germany is set to become Ukraine’s most important partner, highlighting Berlin’s growing role in supporting Kyiv amid the ongoing conflict. Merz also stressed that “it is time to enter negotiations, freeze the front line, and stop the killings.”
