Sybiha on Russia's Responsibility: A Comparison with the Third Reich

Comparison of Russia's Responsibility with the Third Reich
Сравнення історичних викликів: Відмінності та паралелі між сучасною агресією Росії та минулим нацизму.

Characteristics of the Regimes

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha pointed out an impressive statistic from history: during the Third Reich, 800 thousand Germans out of 80 million were arrested for protesting against the war, while in Russia, during the era of Putin, only 20 thousand people have been detained for similar positions out of a population of 145 million. These figures are very important in assessing the current political situation.

Moral Catastrophe

Sybiha emphasized that such a small number of arrests in Russia for anti-war positions indicates a threat of moral crisis in this society. He does not consider Russians to be 'innocent', as their indifference or support for aggression points to deep problems that need to be addressed.

The approaching number of arrested individuals for anti-war positions in the history of Germany and Russia indicates a change in approaches to political protests over different times. It is important to recognize the risks and consequences that arise from the lack of active public participation in policy-making and the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms.
