Ukraine's Defense Ministry Automatically Extends Deferrals for 90% of Eligible Citizens
Automatic Renewal of Military Service Deferrals
According to ХВИЛЯ: Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has announced the automatic extension of deferrals from military service for 90% of all eligible individuals. This latest automated wave processed a record number of citizens and added seven new eligibility categories. For cases where the system did not apply the extension, a new procedure has been established, requiring individuals to contact Administrative Service Centers (ASCs or TsNAPs).
Some eligible individuals may not see their status updated due to outdated registry data or missing documents in the digital system. Consequently, territorial recruitment centers have stopped accepting in-person applications for deferrals. For those needing to update their status, the process is straightforward: visit any convenient ASC, submit the required documents to a specialist, and await the status update in their personal electronic account.
New Categories Eligible for Deferral
The seven newly added categories now eligible for deferral include:
- Parents raising a severely ill child (even without a registered disability);
- Individuals providing care for a severely ill or incapacitated family member;
- Husbands and wives of persons with a Group III disability;
- Those caring for relatives of the 2nd or 3rd degree of kinship who have a disability;
- Single parents independently raising a child under 18 years old;
- Teachers at general education schools.
The 'Reserve+' system sends notifications about the process, including push alerts about the start of a scheduled extension procedure and confirmations of successful status updates. This allows individuals to stay informed about changes to their status and address any potential issues promptly.
These changes to the deferral system represent a significant step in supporting social groups requiring special protection during wartime. The automation aims to reduce the administrative burden on citizens, ensure their military security, and simplify deferral-related procedures. The enhanced 'Reserve+' system provides additional tools for monitoring status, increasing transparency in the relationship between military authorities and the public. This update is part of ongoing efforts to streamline mobilization processes while accounting for critical family and social responsibilities.
