The Ministry of Defense will issue a permit for the Ukrainian ballistic missile FP-7 in December
Planning and Production of the FP-7 Ballistic Missile
According to ХВИЛЯ: The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to issue a permit for the operation of the FP-7 ballistic missile in December 2023. The FP-7 will be the first Ukrainian ballistic missile developed by Fire Point. This decision marks an important step in the development of Ukraine's defense capabilities.
Production of FP-7 ballistic missiles could begin on a large scale in May 2026. However, despite these prospects, the FP-7 missile does not have a guided warhead and the ability to integrate with European radars. This may limit its effectiveness in certain operational scenarios.
Moreover, the production of missiles depends on the procurement of chemical components from abroad, which may affect their manufacturing rates.
Expertise and Significance of the Ballistic Missile
Experts such as Denis Shtilerman emphasize the importance of having one's own weapons that are not dependent on third parties and can be used without target approval. Shtilerman states:
“Creating a ballistic missile is quite a simple task that will allow Ukraine to strike the enemy with guaranteed effect.”
This could serve as a foundation for further advancements in the Ukrainian defense industry.
The development and implementation of the FP-7 ballistic missile highlights Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities in the face of modern military challenges. Despite some limitations related to technological aspects and dependence on imported components, this step could become an important milestone in national military production and reducing dependence on external arms supplies.
