Ukraine's Defense Ministry Launches Online Military Registration via Reserve+ App

Military registration by Ministry of Defense: online setup in Reserv+
Міністерство оборони України впровадило новий додаток для онлайн-реєстрації військовозобов'язаних через платформу Reserve+.

Online Military Registration Service Launched

According to Главком: Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has announced the launch of an online service for military registration through the Reserve+ application. This new digital tool is available to specific groups, including citizens residing abroad, and eliminates the need for in-person visits to Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) or medical examinations. To streamline the process, the Reserve+ app has been updated and will now automatically display the user's photo in the electronic document. This initiative is part of a broader digital transformation of Ukraine's state services during wartime.

The service is designed to simplify registration by introducing new features. Notably, the Reserve+ app will send notifications if a TRC dispatches a paper summons by mail. As the Defense Ministry states,

the service makes the registration process straightforward and clear for conscripts and those liable for military service, eliminating travel, queues, and paperwork.

Who is Eligible for Online Registration

However, online registration is only available for those doing it for the first time. Men who have been removed from the register, as well as women, must still apply in person at a TRC. Eligible individuals who can use the new service include:

  • Males born in 2009, until July 31.
  • Men aged 25 to 59, including those abroad, provided they have never been registered before and possess biometric documents (an ID card or a biometric foreign passport).

To register via Reserve+, users must follow a few simple steps:

  • Install or update the Reserve+ app to the latest version.
  • Log in to the application.
  • Select the 'Register for Service' function.
  • Wait for the automatic processing of the request.

Following successful registration, the app will display a status of 'conscript' for citizens aged 17-24 or 'person liable for military service' for men aged 25-59.

The new Reserve+ feature allows for quick registration without queues, paper documents, or medical check-ups. It can be done from anywhere in the world, aims to increase the speed and quality of record-keeping, and helps reduce the routine workload on TRCs and emergency services. This move reflects Ukraine's efforts to modernize its military administration under challenging conditions.

The introduction of online military registration via the Reserve+ app marks a significant step in digitizing Ukraine's military processes. It makes the procedure more accessible and convenient, particularly for citizens abroad. This innovation also demonstrates the Defense Ministry's commitment to simplifying bureaucratic procedures and adapting them to modern technology, which could positively impact the country's mobilization efforts.
