Social Housing Launches in Ukraine: Which Communities Will Receive Funding

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: A meeting was held at the Ministry for Community Development and Territories, where the implementation of social housing projects and ways to increase community participation in such projects were discussed. Representatives from the Ministry and guests from Europe attended the event. Natalia Kozlovska and Marina Denysiuk spoke about the state of the reform in the housing construction sector and the preparation of a joint project with the European Investment Bank. Financial models proposed by the French Development Agency were also discussed at the meeting. In particular, participants examined the possibility of funding housing through grants, loans, or credits, which will allow for faster implementation of projects in this field.

In addition, the meeting discussed a draft law on the basic principles of housing policy, which is already ready for a second reading. It provides for the creation of an affordable housing fund with no possibility of privatization, which will better attract investments and utilize partnerships with the private sector for project implementation. Support for these initiatives was also expressed by representatives of the European Commission, who emphasized the compliance of the proposed approaches with European standards and the necessity of their implementation in Ukraine.
