The Ministry of Justice published the most popular names for children this year

Among other interesting name options for children, Ukrainians chose ancient names such as Arey and Eney, Slavic names - Askold, Zoreslav, Radomir, as well as names of characters from popular series, such as Karpo, Lavrin, Cosmos, Lucifer, and Oscar. Girls were also given unusual names such as Alicia, Assol, Valkyrie, Lola, Lukeria, Aurora, Jasmine, Lia-Ailin, Eden Rose, and Munachimso Aiv.

According to the Ministry of Justice, among the most popular names for boys during this period were Alexander, Mark, Timofey, Matvey, Maxim, Artem, Bohdan, Damir, Danila, Dmitry, and makar. Meanwhile, among girls, the leaders were the names Sofia, Emilia, Eva, Milana, Solomiya, Victoria, Polina, Anna, Maria, and Veronika.

It is noted that overall, the situation with birth rates in Ukraine is not the best. Currently, for every newborn child, there are three deceased, indicating a stable population situation over the last five years. However, the birth rate in the country has decreased by 2.2 times over the last ten years, from 32 thousand newborns per month in 2016 to only 14 thousand this year.

The popular names for newborns in Ukraine in the first half of 2025 turned out to be the classic Alexander, Sofia, as well as exotic Arey, Jasmine, and Lucifer. Overall, the birth rate situation in the country has worsened in recent years, indicating a decrease in birth rates.
