Stationary scanning systems for inspecting freight cars

According to ХВИЛЯ: The State Customs Service of Ukraine has received stationary scanning systems for inspecting freight cars. These cutting-edge technologies will allow customs officials to see the contents of containers without opening them, significantly simplifying the cargo inspection process. A full launch of the systems is planned for the second half of 2026.

Crossing points and the principle of operation

The first to receive the equipment will be the crossing points 'Yahodyn' and 'Mostyska-2'. The system operates on the principle of X-rays for trains, which means that inspections occur while the train is moving. This will significantly increase inspection efficiency and reduce delays for trucks and passengers.

  • The systems belong to the class of NII (Non-Intrusive Inspection), indicating their non-invasive nature.
  • The scanner takes a snapshot of the contents of the car in just seconds, providing quick and effective control over cargo flow.

The implementation of such technologies will be an important step in modernizing customs procedures in Ukraine.

Introducing stationary scanning systems is a significant stage in reforming customs procedures in Ukraine, as it will reduce corruption risks and increase transparency in the customs sector. Since customs inspections are often a source of delays, new technologies can greatly ease the cargo flow, improving the economic situation in the country. This also aligns with global trends in security and cargo transportation control.
