Counterfeit toys worth 500 thousand hryvnias seized at the border with Slovakia: details of the case

A declared cargo of children's toys and accessories, transported through the Ukrainian-Slovak border by a truck to a Volyn entrepreneur, turned out to be counterfeit to a well-known trademark. This was reported by the publication 'Glavcom', citing Transcarpathian customs officers.

During customs clearance of 16850 units of goods from China, including toys, keychains, phone cases, and headphones, inspectors thoroughly examined the cargo and discovered products that may violate intellectual property rights.

Violation of rights and seizure of goods

The owner of the trademark, which has international registration, stated that these goods are suspected of violating his rights and provided a conclusion stating that based on the photographs provided by customs, the forgery and counterfeit nature of these goods is confirmed.

A protocol on the violation of customs rules was drawn up against the entrepreneur from Volyn in accordance with Article 476 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. A total of 7440 soft toys, 8120 keychains, 1140 silicone cases, and 150 headphone cases were seized, which were imported into the customs territory of Ukraine in violation of intellectual property rights legislation.

The entrepreneur from Volyn imported counterfeit goods to Ukraine that violated intellectual property rights and were seized by customs officers at the request of the rights holder. The cargo included toys, keychains, phone cases, and headphones that are suspected of forgery.
