Cyber Attack on the International Criminal Court

According to glavcom.ua: A cyber incident has occurred at the International Criminal Court: their IT system was attacked by a new sophisticated cyber attack. This took place last week, but became known only today, June 30, 2025, reports the publication 'Glavcom' citing the ICC.

According to the court's official statement, this is already the second such incident in recent years. The court's management reported that the attack was detected and thwarted thanks to existing security measures. Currently, an analysis of the consequences of this attack is ongoing, and measures are being taken to prevent possible negative repercussions.

We believe it is necessary to inform the public and the states-parties about such incidents, as well as our efforts to overcome them, said the ICC in a statement.

The Importance of International Support in Cybersecurity

The court emphasized that international support in the field of cybersecurity is critically important to ensure its ability to play a role in the administration of justice and holding accountable for serious crimes. Court representatives stressed that this responsibility lies with all states party to the Rome Statute.

We remind you that the Russian Federation claims that its critical infrastructure was subjected to more than 208 thousand 'particularly dangerous' cyber attacks in 2024.

Recently, the International Criminal Court fell victim to a complex cyber attack which was detected and neutralized. This incident underscored the importance of international support in the field of cybersecurity to ensure the functioning of institutions of such level and significance that they hold in the realm of justice and accountability for crimes.
