Missiles and drones against the backdrop of Moldova
Російські удари досягли території Молдови: вибухи трьох ракет і двох безпілотників.

Russia Launches Large-Scale Attack Affecting Moldova

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: On the morning of October 3, 2026, Moldova experienced a significant spillover from Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine when five airborne targets exploded within its borders. Among these were three missiles and two drones, marking a troubling escalation that raises serious security concerns for neighboring countries in Eastern Europe.

The unauthorized objects entered Moldovan airspace at 08:04, crossing from the Ukrainian village of Udobne in Odesa Oblast, and exited by 08:05 heading toward Bilyaivka, also in Odesa Oblast. Explosions were reported near multiple Moldovan localities, including:

  • Krokmaz
  • Ștefan Vodă
  • Delacău
  • Puhăceni
  • Anenii Noi
  • Bozieni
  • Hîncești
  • Dubovca
  • Constantinovca
  • Cașu

Fragments from the drones were discovered in several locations. Notably, debris was found near Dubrova in the Hîncești district, between Delacău and Puhăceni villages, and in a vineyard in Krokmaz where dry vegetation caught fire and nearby windows were shattered. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, though damage to vegetation and buildings has been confirmed.

'I condemn Russia’s attacks on Ukraine this morning. This war dangerously approaches Moldova’s borders. Five Russian aerial targets, including Banderol missiles and drones, violated our airspace and detonated on our soil. Moscow is endangering lives across Europe and must be stopped.' - Maia Sandu, President of Moldova

This incident underscores the heightened tensions in Eastern Europe and the increasing risk of conflict spilling beyond Ukraine’s borders. The breach of Moldovan airspace highlights the vulnerability of neighboring nations and intensifies concerns about regional security. Moldova’s response reflects the growing alarm among countries adjacent to the conflict zone and may prompt stronger international efforts to counter Russian aggression, as well as reinforce the defense capabilities of border states.

The recent missile and drone strikes are not isolated incidents, as Moldova has previously faced similar threats. Just weeks ago, on September 19, multiple unidentified drones intruded into Moldova’s airspace, raising alarms about the ongoing security risks in the region. This pattern of aerial violations emphasizes the urgency for neighboring countries to address the escalating tensions and protect their sovereignty.
