According to glavcom.ua: Shi Yinle has become the new abbot of Shaolin Monastery after a democratic vote by the monastic community. This decision was made after Shi Yunsin was stripped of the title on July 28.
Shi Yunsin found himself at the center of a scandal due to financial misconduct and moral vices, such as relationships with women and having illegitimate children.
Shi Yunsin had led the monastery since 1999, had been working there since 1982, and had a political career. Incidents involving him in the past did not have serious legal consequences, but this time the situation was handled by the provincial government of Henan and the monastery itself in the most transparent manner.
The new abbot, Shi Yinle, faces the task of restoring trust in the Shaolin Monastery and its internal community.
