IMF is ready to support the de-shadowing of Ukraine's economy: what the initiative entails
Ukrainian Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev discussed with IMF representatives the financial needs of the country. They also talked about key reforms that could foster further cooperation.
'The main goal of the current mission is to provide an independent assessment of Ukraine's financial needs in the medium term. This is critically important in the context of the budget process for 2026 to ensure macro-financial stability and support development,' Sobolev emphasized.
The main areas of cooperation included privatization, de-shadowing of the economy, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the development of targeted support programs. Attention was also paid to stimulating economic growth, simplifying tax administration, and increasing transparency in the VAT sphere.
IMF representatives emphasized the need to prepare a concept for the de-shadowing of the economy as a basis for further actions within the framework of cooperation with the fund.
The meeting also underscored the importance of attracting both domestic and foreign investments by creating a stable and transparent business environment.
