According to Главком: Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a new position: Special Envoy for Prisoners of War, Detained Civilians, and Missing Persons. Dmytro Ponomarenko, formerly Ukraine's Ambassador to South Korea and concurrently to Mongolia, has been appointed to this critical role. This appointment underscores the immense human toll of Russia's ongoing war, which has left thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians unaccounted for.

The initiative to create this position came from Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
