Over the course of a week, the fire covered about 1400 hectares of forest and generated eight hot spots. Representatives of the State Emergency Service indicated that the fire posed a serious threat to nature and nearby settlements.

In the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region, a significant forest fire that arose as a result of shelling on July 29 has been extinguished. This was reported by 'Graham' citing the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk region.

Firefighters continue to patrol fire-prone areas to prevent re-ignition. In the last 24 hours, on August 2, 28 fires were extinguished, 12 of which occurred due to shelling.

Earlier in Greece, the fight against forest fires continued near Athens and in other regions of the country, which faced the third wave of abnormal heat this summer. Due to the threat, residents of some villages were evacuated, and temperatures reached 44 °C.

It is also worth noting that there has recently been a series of large-scale forest fires in Canada, leading to the evacuation of more than 17,000 people in the province of Manitoba.
