The commander of the 110th OMBr Sergey Zakhariev has died at the front
According to glavcom.ua: Today, July 1, the commander of the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after General-Major Mark Bezruchko Colonel Sergey Zakhariev died at the front during the war. This was reported by Brigadier General Sergey Sobko, according to 'Glavkom'.
'Today a warrior, son, husband, father of three children, my friend – Sergey Zakhariev has fallen... You were the best among us when we were studying, the most talented. You were the best afterwards too, when we became officers. Mattis said there are two traits he values most in leaders – aggressiveness and initiative. Oh, that is precisely about you. We have no brighter example of an officer with these two qualities.'
After graduating from the Odessa Institute of Ground Forces, Zakhariev was sent to the troops, where he headed the reconnaissance company of the 30th separate mechanized brigade. Since 2010, he commanded the reconnaissance company of the 1st tank brigade, and since February 2025 he became the commander of the 110th separate mechanized brigade, having previously served as the deputy commander of the 33rd mechanized brigade.
Awards:
- Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky II degree (July 27, 2022) – for personal bravery and selfless actions shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath.
- Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree (March 11, 2015) – for personal bravery and heroism shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath during the Russo-Ukrainian war.
During the evacuation of the wounded, a soldier Orest Bilinchuk-Portik with the call sign Siberiak also died at the front, who named himself after his grandfather, a soldier of the UPA. In addition, we lost choreographer and balletmaster Viktor Voynikov, who devoted more than 20 years to the development of dance art in Ukraine. He was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2023.
Commander of the 110th separate mechanized brigade Sergey Zakhariev died at the front, leaving a mark for future lawyers in the history of reconnaissance units. His act and example of devotion to his country should be remembered and honored.
