Crash on the Zhytomyr-Chernivtsi Highway

According to Главком: A passenger bus and a car collided on July 10 in the Khmelnytskyi region, causing the bus to overturn. The accident occurred around 2:50 PM on the road between the villages of Havrylivtsi and Khodorivtsi. The vehicles involved were a Mercedes-Benz 413 bus and a Dacia Logan passenger car. Five bus passengers sustained injuries in the crash.

Victims and Investigation

The injured include three women aged 18, 75, and 78, as well as a 69-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl. All were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Dacia Logan, a 71-year-old resident of Kamianets-Podilskyi, and the bus driver, a 59-year-old from the town of Nova Ushytsia, escaped unharmed.

Police have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The Kamianets-Podilskyi District Police Department is leading the investigation. According to law enforcement,

“officers are working to determine the circumstances of the crash involving a passenger bus that left five people injured.”

This incident follows another serious accident on July 4, when a Mercedes Sprinter minibus traveling the Odesa-Mykolaiv route overturned and collided with a Volvo truck between the villages of Krasne and Nechaiane.

In light of the recent incidents involving passenger buses in the Khmelnytskyi region, concerns about road safety are becoming increasingly urgent. Another case, where a bus on the Kyiv-Burgas route overturned, also resulted in injuries, highlighting a troubling trend in transportation safety within Ukraine. Authorities may need to take more decisive action to improve conditions on the roads.
