Sumy Region Returns to a 5-Hour Nighttime Curfew

According to Рубрика — Суспільство: Starting September 16, the Sumy region will reinstate a curfew lasting five hours, from midnight until 5 a.m. This directive was made in coordination with military authorities, reflecting the current security environment in the area. Earlier this summer, the curfew period was shortened to four hours to accommodate seasonal agricultural activities following requests from local farmers. Now that the temporary reduction has ended, the region is reverting to the previous curfew schedule.

Additional Security Enhancements in Sumy

In the city of Sumy, new alert systems using street loudspeakers have been installed to warn residents about potential strikes from guided aerial bombs. These initiatives aim to bolster public safety amid escalating threats.

“From tomorrow, the curfew in Sumy region will be enforced between 00:00 and 05:00. This decision was made jointly with military leadership based on the security situation,” said Oleh Hryhorov.

The government has allocated 70 million hryvnias to strengthen the region’s anti-drone defenses. In addition, the Ministry of Defense has approved a series of measures to enhance air defense capabilities. These efforts are critical for protecting the local population against ongoing aggression.

The restoration of the extended curfew and introduction of new protective systems underscore the authorities' commitment to continuously adapt security protocols in response to evolving risks. Given the persistent threats posed by hostile forces, these steps are designed to maximize civilian protection and improve readiness for potential attacks, contributing to overall regional stability.
