Famous Ukrainian rower died at the front

According to glavcom.ua: Yuri Bredak (call sign 'Clever'), a famous Ukrainian rower, died at the front. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the Sports Committee of Ukraine.

In the autumn of 2021, before the full-scale invasion began, Yuri Bredak decided to go to the front as a volunteer in the 130th territorial defense battalion. In February 2022, he came to defend Kyiv region and then fought at hot spots in Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv regions, and in the Zaporizhzhia direction. After being wounded, he recovered and rejoined his comrades-in-arms.

Farewell to Heroes

Yuri died on June 23, 2025.

Bredak was an outstanding athlete - a master of sports in rowing, a multiple-time champion of Ukraine. Residents of Irpin bid farewell to Yuri Bredak on Universitetska Street.

On July 7, 2025, a farewell ceremony for the Hero took place at the Vladimir Cathedral in Kyiv, and Yuri was buried in the Alley of Memory of Defenders of Ukraine.

Loss in difficult times

Another lost Hero is Vitaliy Rimaruk, a 26-year-old discus thrower, who was a champion and prize-winner of the championships of Ukraine. He left behind a wife and a small daughter. Rimaruk served as an officer and was killed at the front in the Pokrovsk direction in Donetsk region.
