Government's 'National Cashback' Initiative

According to Главком: Ukraine's 'National Cashback' program will not introduce new spending categories in the near future, according to Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Vitaliy Kindrativ. The Ministry of Economy is relying on analytical data to guide the project's implementation. Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev noted that the government is actively working on technical improvements to the program.

Payments and Support for Ukrainian Producers

Launched in March, the 'National Cashback' program offers reimbursements for purchases of weighted goods. Designed to bolster domestic manufacturers, it allows citizens to receive compensation of either 5% or 15% when buying Ukrainian products. Specifically:

  • 15% is refunded on diesel;
  • 10% on gasoline;
  • 5% on autogas.

Accumulated funds can be used to pay for utilities, transportation, or donations to the military.

Separately, since March, Ukraine has implemented a fuel compensation scheme under the 'National Cashback' umbrella. Consumers save between 2 and 11 UAH per liter of fuel. Citizens will be eligible for fuel purchase refunds until the end of May 2026.

The 'National Cashback' program aims to support Ukrainian producers and ease the financial burden on citizens. The decision not to add new spending categories in the immediate future signals the government's intention to refine existing mechanisms. The extension of fuel compensation through 2026 also reflects a commitment to assist the population during challenging times and encourage consumption of Ukrainian goods. This could positively impact the country's overall economy.

As the 'National Cashback' program continues to evolve, it's important to note that over 4.4 million citizens are set to receive payments for February, highlighting the government's ongoing support for its citizens.
