Senior Ukrainian Police Officers Suspended Amid Corruption Investigation
According to Главком: Ukraine's National Police has suspended four high-ranking officers implicated in a criminal case involving alleged illicit gains. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Prosecutor General's Office. Five individuals have already been detained in connection with the case, including the heads of the main police departments in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions.

Additionally, a driver from the motor pool of the State Administration 'Center for Servicing Ministry of Internal Affairs Units' was arrested for acting as an intermediary in the scheme.
During searches conducted across the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions, authorities seized a substantial amount of property. The haul included a fleet of six luxury vehicles, five Swiss-made watches, firearms and bladed weapons, mobile phones, and cash in various currencies totaling over 22.6 million hryvnias. This case highlights ongoing efforts to root out corruption within Ukraine's law enforcement agencies, a sector where public trust remains a critical concern.
National Police Response
The head of the National Police has initiated an internal investigation, leading to the suspension of the four officers from duty.
“In the near future, personnel decisions will be made based on the results of this internal investigation. The National Police of Ukraine is fully cooperating with the investigation and is committed to a comprehensive, objective, and impartial establishment of all circumstances in the case,” the National Police stated.
Purging the system of dishonest employees remains a top priority for the National Police. Officials emphasized that 'any manifestations of corruption or abuse of office will be met with a firm and principled response, regardless of rank, special title, or past merits.'
