MP Marchenko received 2 years in prison for bribery
The High Anti-Corruption Court found the people’s deputy Lyudmila Marchenko guilty of a corruption crime and sentenced her to two years of imprisonment. Her assistant received a similar sentence. This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda citing SAP.
The court found that the defendants received 11,300 dollars for facilitating an illegal departure abroad for a man.
Marchenko's sentence: what punishment was imposed by the court
According to VAKS's decision, Lyudmila Marchenko was found guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code related to abuse of power.
The court imposed:

2 years of imprisonment

prohibition to hold public office for 3 years
Her assistant also received:

2 years of imprisonment

prohibition to work in fields related to the issuance of departure permits abroad for 3 years
The sentence will come into effect in 30 days if it is not appealed.
Marchenko's case: how events unfolded
The investigation established that in 2023, the women organized a scheme for illegal border crossing for a fee.

After the investigation began, Marchenko was excluded from the faction “Servant of the People”.
Preventive measures were not chosen for her, as she was in a medical facility. Instead, her assistant was assigned a bail of over 53 thousand hryvnias, which was posted.
Earlier, VAKS issued a verdict against a former official of the Ministry of Defense in a bribery case related to construction for the military. The former official was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment.
