Dzyuba on the return of the Russian teams to European cups: We will be kicked out
According to glavcom.ua: Russian 'Akron' striker Artem Dzyuba, who is the all-time top scorer for the Russian national football team, believes that it will not be easy for Russian clubs to return to European competitions after a long absence.
“No chance. It is better not to return in such a state. I think we will be kicked out,” Dzyuba replied when asked about the possible return of Russian football clubs to European tournaments.
In February 2022, FIFA and UEFA suspended the participation of Russian clubs and the national team in international tournaments due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
However, in another sporting category, Russian fencer Yana Egoryan became the world champion, defeating Polish fencer Zuzanna Czeslar in the final with a score of 15:11.
Despite sporting successes, Egoryan is an ambassador for the Russian public movement “Healthy Fatherland,” which actively operates in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and is involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.
It was reported that the Russian club “Bilogorye” decided to end their training camp in Belgorod due to the shelling of the city and move their preparations for the new season to Tula. The club played their home matches last season in Tula due to safety concerns.
It is noted that after the suspension of Russian clubs from participating in European cups due to the conflict with Ukraine, the ambitions of the teams will be significantly affected, as acknowledged by Artem Dzyuba himself, which could disrupt the balance in European football.
