According to Главком: On June 15, Kyiv faced a nighttime assault, during which a Shahed kamikaze drone hit a residential building in the Lisovyi neighborhood of the Desnianskyi district. The impact sparked a fire in the high-rise. Additionally, a direct strike was recorded at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO World Heritage site, setting the roof of the Dormition Cathedral ablaze.
Affected Districts and Aftermath of the Attack
Residential buildings in other parts of the capital also suffered damage:
- In the Pecherskyi district, a five-story apartment block was struck;
- In the Obolonskyi district, a residential building was damaged between the third and fourth floors;
- In the Solomianskyi district, a nine-story residential building was hit.
Moreover, the attack ignited a fire at the National Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio, damaging Ukraine’s largest and oldest costume collection. The studio housed roughly one hundred thousand costumes and three million clothing items.
A resident of one of the damaged buildings stated:
“We currently have no information about the condition of our home, as rescue operations are still ongoing at the site.”
