Stiftung Warentest Evaluates Coffee Beans

According to Radiotrek — Світ: Germany's leading consumer watchdog, Stiftung Warentest, has released its findings after testing 21 different coffee bean varieties. The top performers were Segafredo Intermezzo, scoring 1.9, and Lavazza Espresso Italiano Cremoso, which earned an impressive 1.8. According to the study, Lavazza Espresso Italiano Cremoso claimed the number one spot among all samples tested. For English-speaking readers unfamiliar with the German grading system, a score of 1.0 is the best possible, making these results outstanding.

The assessment covered 21 bean types, including six espresso varieties and fifteen crema blends, with organic options also represented. Taste testing accounted for 55% of the final score, and to ensure impartiality, the coffee was prepared in an automatic machine without milk or sugar. This rigorous methodology provides reliable guidance for consumers looking to purchase quality coffee beans.

Lab Tests and Key Findings

Laboratory analysis examined acrylamide, furan, mineral oils, and heavy metal content. Notably, all samples labeled as 100% Arabica passed verification. While acrylamide and furan were detected in every sample, levels remained within safe regulatory limits. Both winning brands are available on the Ukrainian market, offering local consumers direct access to the top-rated products. The study's results highlight that even the highest-rated coffees contain trace substances, but compliance with safety standards ensures they remain a safe choice for health-conscious buyers.
