Ukraine's Armed Forces Pay Structure in 2026: A Multi-Layered System

According to ХВИЛЯ: In 2026, the financial support system for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel is built on multiple components, offering various payments tailored to service conditions and duties. The baseline salary starts at 20,130 UAH. This framework is designed to address the unique challenges faced by military members, especially amid ongoing conflict.

Core and Supplementary Payments

Combat-related allowances are a key feature for those on the front lines. Soldiers receive 100,000 UAH for combat duty, calculated based on days spent in active combat zones or occupied territories. Additionally, those who accumulate over 30 days of service on the front line are entitled to a trench bonus of 70,000 UAH. Beyond these, personnel may qualify for:

  • A 30,000 UAH supplement for support roles in rear or near-front areas.
  • A 50,000 UAH supplement for those serving in the first echelon of defense or offensive operations.

The social benefits package includes annual health recovery assistance equal to one month's salary, relocation allowances (one full salary for the service member and half a salary per family member), and medical leave payments. For injuries or concussions sustained while defending the country, hospitalized soldiers receive 100,000 UAH per month, prorated for their hospital stay.

Disability and Discharge Compensation

Disability and severance payments form a critical part of the system. A one-time disability payout for Group I exceeds 1.3 million UAH, Group II receives around 1 million UAH, and Group III gets over 800,000 UAH. Upon discharge, mobilized personnel receive 4% of their base pay for each month served, with a minimum of 25% of the total amount. For contract soldiers, discharge payments range from 25% to 50% per year of service.

This compensation structure aims to support service members across various aspects of their careers, from combat missions to social guarantees, ensuring stability and protecting their rights. The system is designed to not only provide financial security but also boost morale and motivation for those in uniform.

In addition to the comprehensive compensation structure for military personnel, new lump-sum payments for injured soldiers have been introduced for 2026.
