Zelenskyy Urges Global Action as Daily Russian Shelling Kills Civilians in Kherson
Fresh Civilian Casualties Reported in Kherson Attacks
According to Главком: Russian forces continue to strike the city of Kherson daily, targeting residential areas and causing mounting civilian casualties. On April 7, one such attack killed three people and wounded three others. The deliberate targeting of civilian neighborhoods has caused deep alarm among local residents and the international community. The city, liberated from Russian occupation in late 2022, remains perilously close to the front lines.
According to reports, the occupiers opened fire on residential buildings in Kherson's Korabelnyi district around 10:50 AM on April 7. The shells struck civilian homes, leading to multiple casualties. The same district had also come under a massive bombardment the previous morning, around 10:00 AM, which also resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.
Ukrainian President's Statement
“It is essentially a constant hunt for people in Kherson: there are victims every single day.”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the situation, noting that a significant number of the attacking drones are being shot down. He emphasized that 'this should not be happening here in Europe, or anywhere else in the world.' He warned that killings on city streets are a threat to all, as 'killers always try to go further.'
The President called for decisive action from the international community, stressing the urgent need to stop the aggressor:
“They must be stopped immediately, decisively, and this can only be done by everyone together, coordinating and strengthening each other in the defense of life.”

The attacks on Kherson are part of a wider escalation in Russian air assaults. Over the past week, approximately 3,000 drones of various types have been launched across Ukraine, indicating a significant increase in Russia's use of aerial weaponry. The situation in Kherson remains tense, with the city's inhabitants continuing to suffer the consequences of military aggression.
The ongoing bombardment of civilian infrastructure in Kherson highlights a brutal pattern in Russia's war tactics, which has drawn widespread international condemnation. President Zelenskyy's appeal for greater international support to halt the aggressor underscores the critical juncture the conflict has reached. Continued attacks threaten to worsen the humanitarian crisis and increase regional instability.
The ongoing violence in Kherson is not an isolated incident, as illustrated by the recent attack on March 14, which resulted in civilian casualties and targeted critical infrastructure. This pattern of aggression highlights the urgent need for a unified international response to protect innocent lives in the region.
