Search at the Elysée Palace

According to Главком: On May 21, two investigators conducted a search at the Elysée Palace as part of an inquiry into the organization of commemorative ceremonies at the Panthéon. The probe focuses on the awarding of government contracts to Shortcut Events, a company responsible for organizing major ceremonies for the presidential administration. A previous attempt to carry out a search on April 14 was blocked due to the constitutional immunity protecting presidential offices.

Investigation and Public Scrutiny

Earlier, on April 14, investigators had already tried to search the National Monuments Center, the offices of Shortcut Events, and the homes of several individuals linked to the case. The investigation was launched following a report published by Libération in June 2024. For 22 years, Shortcut Events secured contracts to organize all Panthéon ceremonies under the National Monuments Center, and also won a contract for the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings at Omaha Beach in 2024. Each event could cost up to €2 million.

The case surrounding Shortcut Events has drawn significant public attention, given the company’s long history of collaboration with state institutions. The fact that searches took place at the Elysée Palace underscores the seriousness of the situation and the potential repercussions for public officials. This investigation highlights broader concerns about transparency and accountability in the use of public funds for state events, and its next steps could shape the political climate and public trust in government institutions.
