According to НОК: On the 11th day of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, February 17, Ukrainian athletes competed in Nordic combined and biathlon. The freestyle skiing (aerials) events were postponed due to adverse weather conditions. The Winter Olympics are a major global sporting event where nations compete across a wide range of disciplines.
In the Nordic combined event:
- Dmytro Mazurchuk finished in 30th place, having been in 34th position after the ski jumping segment.
- Oleksandr Shumbarets placed 31st, moving up from his 31st-place standing following the ski jump.
The Ukrainian biathlon relay team consisted of:
- Dmytro Pidruchnyi
- Bohdan Borkovskyi
- Vitalii Mandzyn
- Taras Lesiuk
The team finished in 16th place, having incurred two penalty loops and requiring 12 extra rounds of ammunition.
Ukrainian competitors are scheduled to participate in five different sporting events on February 18.
The performances of Ukrainian athletes at the 2026 Olympics demonstrate their continued effort to contend for medals against strong international competition. The team still has opportunities to improve their standings in the upcoming events on February 18. Future competitions could prove crucial for securing medals and boosting team morale, which is particularly significant given the challenging circumstances the nation faces.
