According to hvylya.net: First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsya compared the United Nations, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary, to a 'political Davos'. He noted that during the celebrations, attention shifted from official discussions to meetings with high-ranking officials and key news items that often are not the main focus during UN sessions.

'These are the main news items during UN sessions. For example, does anyone remember what Secretary-General Guterres spoke about? But everyone discusses the speeches of leaders who have come from their capitals, such as President Zelensky, Trump, and others, who sincerely assess the state of the 80-year-old UN.'

He also pointed out that events occurring 'on the sidelines' of UN General Assembly sessions, initiated by various countries, may have a greater impact than the debates themselves within the UN. Kyslytsya remarked that the formats of such meetings outside of the official sessions are becoming increasingly popular, but their connection to the organization is diminishing.

Conclusion:

While celebrating its 80th anniversary, the United Nations is becoming reminiscent of a 'political Davos', where attention shifts from official discussions to meetings with high-ranking officials and key news items that take center stage. Events occurring 'on the sidelines' of UN sessions may have a significant impact on the situation, but their connection to the organization may decrease over time.
