Operators have the right to block numbers: who will be affected by the new rule
Mobile operators are now allowed to block spam calls and fraudulent numbers
According to hvylya.net: Mobile operators in Ukraine can now stop spam calls and block numbers used by fraudsters. Taras Stetsenko, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Electronic Communications at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, explained that there were previously no clear legal mechanisms for such actions.
'The issue is not about the technical capabilities of blocking, but about proper legal permissions, since we operate within the laws, and each blocking must be approved or confirmed',
noted Stetsenko.
Operators will use automated systems to identify suspicious numbers based on their activity. Complaints from subscribers, who point out the problem, also play an important role in this process. After identifying a suspicious number, operators will conduct additional checks before blocking or restricting access.
This new capability is aimed at combating phone fraud and annoying spam calls in Ukraine. It is also worth noting that operators will no longer block SIM cards of Ukrainians for technical debts.
The Directorate of Electronic Communications of the Ministry of Digital Transformation has given mobile operators in Ukraine the ability to block numbers used by fraudsters and spam calls. This permission allows operators to combat annoying calls and fraud, helping to protect subscribers from unwanted influences.
