Court Unseals Jeffrey Epstein’s Alleged Suicide Note

According to Главком: A federal court in White Plains, New York, has made public the text of what is believed to be Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide note, previously kept under seal. The note was discovered by his cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, in July 2019 after Epstein’s first suicide attempt. Epstein, a financier and convicted sex offender, was found unconscious in his cell with a strip of cloth around his neck during that incident and survived. He later died in August 2019 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, with the official cause of death ruled a suicide. The document was released on May 6, 2026, following a motion by The New York Times. This case has drawn intense public scrutiny, partly because Epstein’s death sparked widespread conspiracy theories and raised questions about transparency in the justice system.

Epstein’s note contains several phrases expressing his distress and emotional state. In it, he asks:

“What do you want me to do - break down and cry!!”

and states:

“It’s a luxury to be able to choose the time to say goodbye.”

The court granted the journalists’ request for transparency, leading to the note’s release. Epstein’s death and the subsequent handling of evidence have fueled ongoing debates about accountability and procedural secrecy.

Investigations and Testimony

Separately, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has testified before the House Oversight Committee as part of an investigation into contacts with Epstein. Under an act of Congress, the Department of Justice is required to release millions of documents related to this case. The note’s disclosure came seven years after Epstein’s death, highlighting the prolonged nature of investigations into his activities and the circumstances surrounding his demise.

The release of Epstein’s suicide note could significantly impact the investigation into his death and related legal proceedings. Its contents may offer new clues about his mental state at the time and how he viewed his situation. Moreover, the intensifying investigations into Epstein’s connections with high-ranking U.S. officials signal that this high-profile case continues to unfold, drawing attention from both the media and the public.
