According to Главком: On May 27, Ukraine's parliament passed a resolution creating the Day of Ukrainian Music, to be observed annually on the third Saturday of September. The date ties directly to the landmark Chervona Ruta festival held in 1989-the first major festival of Ukrainian song, which took place September 17–24 in Chernivtsi and marked a turning point in the nation's musical history.

The initiative was spearheaded by music industry representatives, notably the Ukrainian Agency for Copyright and Related Rights. The resolution frames this new commemorative day as a key tool for honoring the contributions of Ukrainian performers and music professionals to national culture. Beyond celebration, the measure aims to bolster cultural resistance amid Russia's armed aggression and to strengthen a Ukrainian cultural sphere free from Russian influence.
