Disability pension for military personnel: who is entitled and how to apply for payments

Application for military pension:

According to law No. 2262-XII, military personnel in Ukraine may receive a disability pension if the loss of capacity to work occurred during the performance of military duty or after demobilization. Medical commissions determine the reasons for health deterioration, the degree of disability, and the parameters for assigning payments.

The EKOFPHO conducts a medical examination and establishes the percentage of loss of capacity to work, which affects the assignment of the pension. The documents required for obtaining a pension include a decision from the medical commission, a conclusion from the medical examination, and other certificates.

Conditions for assigning payments and their amounts

The legislation provides that the disability pension is due to military personnel whose health problems arose during military service or within the first three months after demobilization. The amount of pension payments depends on the group of disability.

Continuation of payments after reassessment of disability

In the case of a reassessment of disability, military personnel may continue to receive payments throughout the entire period of service and for a certain time after discharge. After a new medical examination, payments may be extended until a complete decision is made by the expert commission.
