The test launch took place at the Cibola Site 17 range in Yuma, Arizona, as part of the Falcon Peak 26.2 exercises involving U.S. Northern Command, NORAD, and the Pentagon’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401. Known as Harpe, this system offers a cost-efficient solution for defending domestic military installations against drone threats.

Key Features of the Mk-III Interceptor

Manufactured at roughly $2,500 per unit, the Mk-III missile employs a kinetic impact method to destroy drones through direct collision. It operates effectively within a two-kilometer range and measures about 61 centimeters in length. The launcher showcased during the trials weighs under 36 kilograms and features an eight-round capacity. These evaluations focused on testing new technologies, enhancing coordination between military and civilian agencies, and providing developers with rapid feedback.

The U.S. Northern Command assessed the system based on mobility, interception cost, and magazine depth. Perseus Defense plans continued advancements, building on previous involvement in Fort Carson’s "Prison Break" operation. Additionally, in summer 2026, Colorado-based SkyDefense introduced CobraJet, an autonomous drone interceptor capable of vertical takeoff and landing. Equipped with artificial intelligence for efficient drone pursuit, CobraJet aims to protect critical infrastructure from evolving UAV threats.
