Transporters in Lviv want a fare of 42 UAH: the city council promises to decide by the end of the week
In Lviv, the new transport fare project is planned to be published by the end of the week. Transporters insist on an increase to 42 UAH, but the city authorities are seeking a compromise. This is reported by Suspilne.
According to the director of the Department of Urban Mobility Oleg Zabil, final calculations are currently ongoing. Transporters are still submitting additional data, while the city is simultaneously analyzing options to reduce the proposed cost.
Fare in Lviv: how much do transporters want
Preliminary calculations made by transporters suggest an increase to:
-
42 UAH per trip — proposed fare level
-
compromise option — currently in the city council's calculations.
The city hall emphasizes that they do not support the maximum fare and are seeking a balance between price and the quality of transport services.
New tariffs in Lviv: how decisions will be made
After the publication of the draft decision, the public consultation procedure will begin. It will last about a month, after which the document will be submitted to the executive committee for approval.
Key stages of approval:
-
publication of the tariffs — by the end of the week
-
public discussions — approximately 1 month
-
review by the executive committee — after the consultations are completed.
The city council acknowledges that an increase in the fare is virtually inevitable. The main reason — the rising cost of fuel, which affects transporters' expenses.
Currently, a final figure has not yet been determined. The Department of Economic Development is rechecking the calculations to avoid a sharp increase in fares for passengers, while also maintaining stable transport operations.
Let us remind you that in March, authorities in Zhytomyr stated that no decision had been made regarding the increase of public transport fare. Currently, the fare for private carriers on city routes remains at 15 UAH.
