Petro Poroshenko Addresses Russian Cyberattacks on Air Raid Alert Systems and Unveils Six-Point Peace Proposal
Petro Poroshenko Speaks on Sky News
According to 5 канал: During an interview with the British broadcaster Sky News, Petro Poroshenko highlighted how Russia is deploying cyberattacks against Ukraine’s air raid alert system as a means of psychological warfare. He emphasized that these attacks aim to incite fear and panic among civilians by threatening missile and drone strikes. Poroshenko urged Western allies to learn from Ukraine’s experience with hybrid warfare and to intensify sanctions against Moscow.
Poroshenko detailed Ukraine’s ongoing military operations targeting Russian military infrastructure, including oil refineries and defense industry facilities. In retaliation, Russia is conducting information and psychological assaults aimed at the civilian population.
“These actions are a part of the Kremlin’s hybrid warfare,” Poroshenko stated.
Peace Plan and Humanitarian Efforts
He also warned that Russia might extend similar tactics to European countries, the UK, and the US. Addressing the humanitarian situation, Poroshenko praised a rescue operation initiated by Melania Trump, which saved nearly 800 people in critical conditions. Remarkably, during the live broadcast in Kyiv, an air raid alarm was sounding due to the approach of eight Shahed drones.
“The room where I spoke to journalists was powered by a generator,” Poroshenko revealed.
Poroshenko introduced a comprehensive six-point peace plan emphasizing the need to strengthen Ukraine’s Armed Forces, retain the ability to strike Russian military targets, and increase sanctions on the Kremlin. He stressed, “Sanctions must deprive Russia of the resources needed to continue the war and compel Vladimir Putin to end his aggression.”
Additionally, Poroshenko called for the return of funds confiscated from Kyiv’s municipal budget and urged the adoption of bill No. 9358, which allocates funding for building and upgrading civilian shelters. He pointed out that “after five years of full-scale war, the issue of accessible shelters for civilians remains unresolved.”
Amid ongoing conflict and escalating threats, Poroshenko underscored the importance of sustained international support and enhanced cooperation with Western partners to counter Russian aggression.
His remarks underscore the pressing challenges Ukraine faces in this hybrid war and the critical need for coordinated global action. Poroshenko’s calls for tougher sanctions and increased military aid could prove pivotal in Ukraine’s fight to maintain its sovereignty. Meanwhile, ensuring civilians have access to safe shelters and essential resources remains a top priority for the Ukrainian government.
As the situation escalates, Poroshenko's insights into the ongoing conflict highlight the urgent need for a strategic approach to achieving stability. For a deeper understanding of his proposed measures to end hostilities and secure lasting peace in Ukraine, explore the key conditions he outlined.
