According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainian skeleton leader Vladislav Geraskevich expressed his condolences regarding the death of renowned German biathlete Laura Dahlmaier. He emphasized that Laura was considered a legend of biathlon and one of the greatest athletes of all time. She also joined in helping the Ukrainian people during the invasion, which further underscores her as a compassionate and supportive person.

“Laura Dahlmaier is a biathlon legend, one of the best athletes of all time. She was also a remarkable and sensitive person. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, she actively supported Ukraine and participated in initiatives of the German organization 'Athletes for Ukraine', which has been doing everything possible to help Ukraine since March 2022 and continues to do so now. It's very sad. My condolences to her family and loved ones, and a huge thank you for everything,” Geraskevich wrote on Instagram.

Laura Dahlmaier died in a mountain range in Pakistan as a result of an accident. The two-time Olympic champion in biathlon left this world due to serious injuries sustained during an ascent at an altitude of 5700 meters. Rescuers were unable to reach her immediately due to difficult conditions.

In memory of the great athlete

It is worth noting that the 31-year-old German biathlete ended her professional career in 2019. Her achievements include two gold medals at the 2018 Olympics and a seven-time world champion title. Laura Dahlmaier will always remain in the hearts of sports fans as an outstanding representative of biathlon.
