Pikhovshek found in Ukraine: where the former propagandist Medvedchuk is hiding
Investigation into Vyacheslav Pikhovshek
According to Главком: Journalists conducted an investigation into the whereabouts of Vyacheslav Pikhovshek, a former TV presenter and propagandist who collaborated with Viktor Medvedchuk. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Pikhovshek disappeared from the public space, but he was found through a Telegram account and comments on Facebook.
Vyacheslav Pikhovshek worked on Ukrainian television channels, notably on the '1+1' channel in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2009, he was dismissed from '1+1' and openly supported Viktor Yanukovych during the Revolution of Dignity. Since 2017, Pikhovshek continued his career at the NewsOne channel. However, after February 2022, he stopped maintaining active social media and appearing in the media.
Journalists found no evidence of Pikhovshek's departure to Russia or his stay abroad. In 2025, books were ordered through 'Nova Poshta' in Kyiv from a Telegram account associated with him. This indicates that he may still be in Ukraine.
Fight Against Pro-Russian Propaganda
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed decrees to implement the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council regarding sanctions against pro-Russian propagandists. In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine has completed pre-trial investigations into propagandist Kyrylo Molchanov, who is accused of state treason. These events emphasize the importance of the fight against pro-Russian propaganda in Ukraine, particularly in the context of the actions of individuals who have supported anti-Ukrainian sentiments.
The investigation into Vyacheslav Pikhovshek is part of a broader trend in Ukraine where a significant effort is being made to combat information aggression and propaganda that support hostile narratives. Given the sanctions imposed against pro-Russian media and their representatives, this situation may indicate a growing attention to issues of information security in the country. The role of law enforcement agencies in identifying and holding accountable individuals who pose a threat to national security is also crucial.
