July 6 Attack on Kyiv and Surrounding Areas

According to УНІАН — Туризм: Following the July 6 assault on Kyiv and the Kyiv region, train services have been restricted on several railway sections. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) imposed these limitations, affecting multiple routes. In response, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) activated alternative bypass routes for affected trains, including:

  • No. 93 Kharkiv – Kholm
  • No. 134 Kamianets-Podilskyi – Kyiv
  • No. 94 Kholm – Kharkiv
  • No. 43 Dnipro – Ivano-Frankivsk
  • No. 104 Lviv – Lozova

According to Ukrzaliznytsia officials:

“All key stops for these trains will be preserved, but delays are expected and can already be tracked via uz-vezemo.”

Aftermath of the Strike

The attack killed 7 people in Kyiv and injured 24, with 14 hospitalized, including two children aged 7 and 8. Several apartment buildings across the capital were partially destroyed, and people may still be trapped under the rubble. The strikes also caused damage in Bucha, Vyshhorod, and Brovary districts, affecting private homes, businesses, and other civilian infrastructure.

The train restrictions have complicated suburban transport on the Fastiv route. In response, railway workers, together with the Kyiv Regional State Administration, arranged shuttle buses between Boiarka and Kyiv. These measures aim to ease passenger travel under the difficult conditions created by the attack.

This tragedy underscores the scale of destruction caused by military actions in Ukraine, particularly in the capital. The transport disruption shows how the war directly impacts citizens' daily lives, complicating their mobility and access to essential services. Authorities continue to take steps to ensure safety and support victims, but rebuilding infrastructure and aiding those in need remain top priorities during wartime.

The recent military actions have not only disrupted train services but have also significantly impacted the city's electric transit systems.
