Former two-weight world boxing champion has passed away

Former American boxer Dwight Muhammad Qawi passed away at the age of 72. His sister Wanda King reported this. He had suffered from dementia for the last five years and died on Friday, July 25. Dwight Breukston changed his name to Dwight Muhammad Qawi in 1982 after converting to Islam.
Also, on the front line, renowned Ukrainian rower Yuriy Bredak, known as 'Klevy', was killed. He had a strong spirit and high sporting achievements. Yuriy died on June 23, 2025 in a conflict zone. Ukraine's discus throw champion Vitaliy Rimaruk, who served as an officer in the National Guard of Ukraine, was also killed. He was a young and talented athlete, leaving behind a wife and a small daughter.
Dwight Muhammad Qawi, the former American boxer, died at the age of 72 after battling dementia. Ukraine has lost prominent athletes in conflict zones: renowned rower Yuriy Bredak and discus throw champion Vitaliy Rimaruk. This tragedy has been a great loss for Ukrainian sports and society as a whole.
