Legendary hockey player Josef Cerny has died

According to glavcom.ua: The legendary hockey player from Czechia, Josef Cerny, passed away at the age of 85, reports 'Glavkom' citing the press service of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

Cerny won a silver medal at the 1968 Olympic Games and two bronze medals in 1964 and 1972. He also has 11 medals from IIHF-sanctioned tournaments.

Two outstanding Ukrainian athletes killed in combat

On the front line, the well-known Ukrainian rower Yuri Bredak (callsign 'Clever') was killed. The tragedy occurred on June 23, 2025. He was a renowned sports master in rowing and a multiple medalist of Ukrainian championships, which confirms his significance for Ukrainian sports.

Additionally, another outstanding Ukrainian athlete, track and field athlete Vitaliy Rymaruk, a champion and medalist of Ukrainian championships among youth and adults, was also killed. He served as an officer in the National Guard of Ukraine and died in the east of the country.

In the world of sports, there were two losses - the legendary hockey player Josef Cerny has passed away, and two outstanding Ukrainian athletes were killed on the front, distinguished by their achievements in rowing and athletics.
